Chitra Herb Chicken Farm is widely spread across the Villupuram district. Chitra Herb Chicken Farm has its own farm as well as operates on Farmer Contract Model for its chicken production.
This Farmer Contract Model is a sustainable model which treats farmers as partners. The chicks, feed and the process of raising the chicken are shared with the farmers. Our model allows the farmers to raise chicken and sell back them back to the company at premium price. Having farms spread across different places and at large scale, allows Chitra herb chicken farm to meet the demands.
Chickens need more than food and water. Little extras add up to make a big difference. We’re giving our chickens what they want and need, with forward-thinking initiatives such as advanced nutrition to address growth rates, natural light in chicken houses, and herbal products.
The four freedoms are offered to the chicken as mandatory in both our own farms as well as contracted farms.
FREEDOM FROM HUNGER AND THIRST
We offer continuous access to nutritionally complete 100% veggie diets free from animal by-products. We also offer herbal products to promote healthy chickens.
FREEDOM FROM DISCOMFORT
All poultry houses have state-of-the-art temperature control. Many of our chickens have outdoor access and natural lighting. We enforce mandatory “lights off” resting periods and are studying how we can make chickens feel more comfortable in the future within their housing environment.
FREEDOM FROM PAIN, INJURY OR DISEASE
We are raising healthy animals without antibiotics. Our goal is to completely eliminate their use at our company. We provide constant supervision and veterinary care, and we never withhold care when needed.
FREEDOM TO EXPRESS NORMAL BEHAVIOR
Simply put, we believe when raising poultry, chickens should be able to act like chickens. So we are providing 6 sq ft per chick where 3 sq ft is the government norm. This helps the chicken to move around and express themselves.
